Cultural Activities

Tampere Theatre

It's quite hard to find some cultural activities in English because most of them are in Finnish.Culture in Tampere is mainly focus around the Museum, Tampere Theatre Festival but also the Philarmonic Orchestra. But as student you will participate on plenty of activities that are propose by the student union of the University. Yous tutors will take care of you and will inform you about the events.You can also look on theses web page if you whant to have more informations:

Salsa courses on monday for free at the Restaurant Teerenpeli (not really really typical but you will enjoy it)

Theatre courses with "Shakespeare's Children". This is the only theatre group in English. The course fee is 60 euro for autumn and 60 for spring.

Tampere Philarmonic orchestra. The program of Tampere Talo is rich amd you should go at list one time to discover the famous Cybellius. Tickets can be by one hour before for 5 euros (student price) and 8 euros less than one hour before.

Moreover you can not missTampere Theatre which is in the middle of Keskustori. The plays are mostly in Finnish but some of them can be understand without any knowledge of the language.

The most populars museum are Lenin Museum, Spy museum, Finlayson Museum (history of Tampere, Hockey Hall of Fam)

 

Sport Activities

Rauhaniemi sauna

For sportive activities, the student union propose sports without teacher. Like every student you will get a pass which open the gymnasium. You can reserved it from Monday to Saturday for playing basketball, volleyball...

Swimming pools: You can go there for 2,70 Euros if you paid with the bus card and all the swimming pools have their own sauna!

Public Sauna: There is few of them which cost between 3 and 5 Euro. If you are a little bit crazy you should try Rauhaniemi sauna before jumping into the lake.

Ice stadium: Hockey is very popular in Finland and you should go to one of the multiples match. And if you want try this sport, there is a lot of open Ice stadium in the winter.
